The Company

Maschinenfabrik Köppern GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized group of companies with joint ventures/branch operations in Australia, China, India, South Africa, Venezuela, the USA as well as agents around the globe. During its more than 100 years of existence, Köppern has established itself as a specialised supplier of roller presses for briquetting and compacting fine-grained bulk materials as well as high-pressure grinding rollers for grinding brittle and coarse materials. To date, Köppern has supplied more than 800 roller presses and high-pressure grinding rollers to more than 50 countries. Köppern GmbH is a highly innovative company which continuously develops innovations, such as HEXADUR®, a wear protection system, which was introduced in 1997.

Range of Products and Activities

Köppern is among the leading suppliers of equipment for briquetting solids fuels, chemical products, sponge iron, ores and minerals, ceramic materials etc. Roller presses for comminution are used, e. g. for crushing ores, limestone, coal and cement clinker. Due to the use of highly abrasion resistant tools for specific applications, e. g. for hot briquetting at up to 750 °C, Köppern's roller presses satisfy the most exacting requirements. In the area of process technology, Köppern operates a test facility where equipment and process specific data are developed for the design of customer plants. This makes sure that plants are tailor-made to suit the customer’s specific needs. So far, Köppern has tested more than 2000 different materials for their process suitability.

Köppern offers also contract machining services. ECM (electro-chemical machining) has established itself as a highly efficient process for machining high-strength metallic materials. The process produces burr-free surfaces with excellent characteristics. Areas of application are: vehicle construction and drive engineering, aviation and aerospace or turbine engineering, as well as food-processing and medical engineering.
